September 2, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against one suspect arrested in the death of a woman at 11800 Westheimer about 7:30 p.m. on August 27.

The suspect, identified as Juan Carlos Molina ( H/m, DOB 12-4-82), is charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Jeanette Gonzales, 23, who suffered head injuries when she was thrown or jumped from her car on Westheimer just east of Kirkwood. She later died from her injuries.

The suspect was arrested Tuesday (August 29) on unrelated charges and is currently in the Harris County Jail. After Houston police homicide investigators released surveillance tape of two suspects wanted in this case, Crime Stoppers tips were received, leading investigators to this suspect as well as several other persons of interest in this on-going investigation.

The suspects, one male and one female, are seen in the video using victim Jeanette Gonzales' credit card at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 3501 State Highway 6 South, on Monday, August 28, 2006 about 12:40 a.m. The suspects are seen driving a light colored four door sedan.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. H. Roberts and Officer C. Y. Park reported:

The victim, Jeanette Gonzales, 23, of 4134 Boone Road, left church at approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 27) and was traveling alone in her vehicle, a 2001 gray Mitsubishi Eclipse. She was followed by a friend to a tea house restaurant located next to the Hong Kong Market at Bellaire Boulevard and Boone Road. Jeanette entered the parking lot, followed by her friend. Her friend parked on the east side of the parking lot and last saw Jeanette driving toward the west side of the parking area. The friend walked into the restaurant but Jeanette never went inside. About 7:30 p.m., witnesses observed Jeanette either jump from or get pushed out of the passenger side of her vehicle just east of Kirkwood on Westheimer. The vehicle continued eastbound on Westheimer. Jeanette was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she later died. Jeanette's vehicle was subsequently recovered at a gas station at 10010 Beechnut early Monday morning (Aug. 28).
