Traffic Incident at 8400 North Main

September 18, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a driver in a fatal traffic accident in the 8400 block of North Main about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday (September 17).

The suspect, a 16-year-old male, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The identity of the deceased female is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant A.C. Francois and Officers R. Stafford and E.R. Kessler reported:

A 1989 Mazda pickup truck was northbound in the 8400 block of North Main when the 16-year-old driver lost control and struck a curb. The vehicle then struck and killed a pedestrian. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect's vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident.
