Update on Incident at 11500 Keegans Ridge

September 21, 2006 -- Charges have been filed in connection with the shooting of a man at 11500 Keegans Ridge about 11 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 18). The vehicle, a Toyota RAV4 SUV, which was used in the shooting, was stolen on September 18 from 10500 Beechnut . It was stopped by HPD patrol officers on September 19 and was being driven by Wallace Smith.

Wallace Smith (b/m, DOB: 1-11-79), a New Orleans resident, was charged with murder and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the in the 182nd State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Gregory Allen Johnson Jr., 29, of 11500 Keegans Ridge #1140. He suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Investigators believe that there may be three or more other suspects involved in this shooting.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants D. Crain, J. McGalin and Officer M. Sosa reported:

Officers were originally called to a shooting at 10600 West Bellfort and determined the correct address was 11500 Keegans Ridge. Paramedics were called and transported the victim to the hospital.

At this time, it is unknown what prompted the shooting. The suspects were described only as four black males.
