2nd Update on Incident at 12600 Hillcroft

April 6, 2007 -- Houston police homicide investigators have learned the identity of a man fatally shot at 12600 Hillcroft about 5:20 a.m. on March 25, 2007. Investigators are still looking for an acquaintance of the victim who was with him prior to the shooting.

The victim is Jorge Luis Guzman-Vasquez, 35, of 4010 West Belfort. He sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed his companion is a male of Guatemalan descent.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M.O. Scott and J. Parker and Officers C.L. Scales and R. Moreno reported:

A passing motorist called 911 after seeing a body in the road in the 12600 block of Hillcroft. HPD patrol officers responded and found Guzman-Vasquez deceased. Investigators developed information that indicated Mr. Guzman-Vasquez was involved in a disturbance with two Hispanic males in a white Ford Expedition or Explorer. It appears Guzman-Vasquez was shot as the suspects attempted to force him into their vehicle. His acquaintance fled on foot prior to the shooting and investigators would still like to talk to him.

Anyone with information in this case or on the identity of the witness is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
