The suspect is identified as Dennis Lamont Evans (b/m, DOB 12/6/82), of 9902 SageRoyal. He attempted to flee after the accident, but was subsequently taken into custody after an officer deployed his conducted energy device (CED) that subdued the suspect. The victim, Rikki Danielle Sanchez, 24, of 10919 SageYork was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant L.A. Washington and Officers D. Ertons, A. Taylor and R. Saenz reported:

An on-duty HPD patrol officer, in the process of taking a stolen vehicle report at 11710 Algonquin, broadcasted a description of that stolen vehicle to area patrol units. A second patrol unit observed the stolen green Chevrolet Classic with Texas license plates 094DZH traveling in the area of Dixie Farm Road and Beamer and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect fled in the stolen vehicle and was traveling south on Teaneck when he ran the stop sign at the intersection of Teaneck at Astoria and struck Ms. Sanchez's blue Nissan pickup, which was traveling east on Astoria. Sanchez died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
