Statement on Acres Homes Investigations

August 2 , 2007 - The investigation into the deaths and sexual assaults that occurred in the Acres Homes area last year is still an active, high-priority investigation. We at HPD are exhausting every effort to solve these cases for the victims’ families, and have said all along we will notify the community of any significant developments in the status of these cases. Unfortunately, there have been no such developments at this point in time.

As previously stated, we submitted evidence from these cases to the FBI Laboratory for analysis. We expect to receive the results of that analysis in the very near future. As this information is received and reviewed, we will aggressively pursue any leads that may result and inform the public of any arrest(s) or charges of any additional suspects related to these cases.

We disclosed in March of this year that suspect Bilford Junious was charged with seven (7) aggravated sexual assaults. The investigation has never accused Junious of being involved in any murders or associated with any of the deaths being investigated. There is evidence that supports the aggravated sexual assault charges and that information has been presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s office. To our knowledge, none of the sexual assault victims have recanted their statements concerning their allegations against suspect Junious.

We once again want to solicit the assistance of the community and ask anyone who has any information in these investigations to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
