Update On Incident at 7360 Southway August 19, 2007 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of an infant at 7360 Southway about 7:55 p.m. on Friday (August 17). The victim, Delyza Hernandez, 3, sustained bruises on her face, legs, arms, hands, buttocks and abdomen, also had internal injuries and head injuries. The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. The suspect, Jonathan Barraza (w/m, DOB: 9-19-87), is arrested and charged with capital murder in the 183rd State District Court. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N.T. Ruland and Officer E.H. Schmidt reported: Delyza was home alone with her mother’s boyfriend (Barraza) when she stopped breathing. HFD paramedics were called to the scene and transported her to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
