Incident at 8601 Southwest Freeway

February 4, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8601 Southwest Freeway about 2:15 a.m. today (Feb. 4).

The identity of the victim, who died at the scene, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.W. McStravick and Officer B.D. Evans reported:

The victim confronted the suspect in the parking lot of a gas station. The suspect, an unknown light-skinned black male, shot the victim several times and fled in an older model white Cadillac. Witnesses reported seeing a second older model red Cadillac, believed to be involved in the shooting, also flee the scene. Both Cadillacs were customized and had "fifth wheels" attached to the trunks of the vehicles.
