The identity of the deceased female victim, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant A.C. Francois and Officers A. Rodriguez, Y. Bashir and R. Blakley reported:

According to witnesses, two Subaru passenger vehicles were traveling north on Hempstead at a high rate of speed when one of the drivers lost control of her vehicle and swerved to the right. The out of control vehicle went onto a pedestrian sidewalk striking a fire hydrant and a female pedestrian who died at the scene. The vehicle came to a rest several hundred feet away from the point of impact and witnesses saw the female driver run from her disabled vehicle and get into the other vehicle involved in the original racing incident. That driver then fled to a nearby sports bar.

The suspects are only described as a Hispanic female, 22-24 years old and a Hispanic male, 30-34 years old. Both were last seen in a Red Subaru bearing Texas license plates 007-GLX.
