Traffic Incident at 3600 Freshmeadows Drive

February 18, 2007 --Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3600 block of Freshmeadows Drive about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (February 17).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant A.C. Francois and Officer J. Bashir reported:

The victim was driving a tan Ford F-150 south on Freshmeadows Drive, at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the truck. The vehicle struck a curb and two parked unoccupied vehicles before striking a tree. The passenger of the truck was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with unknown injuries. The driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts.

Several opened beer containers were found in the vehicle indicating alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
