Suspect Arrested and Charged, Other Victims Possible

February 26, 2007 -- Additional charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in June 2006 and Houston police investigators believe more victims exist and encourage them to come forward.

The suspect, identified as Wilfredo Vargas (H/m, DOB: 10/25/61), is now charged with one count of indecency with a child, two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of sexual performance by a child in the 209th State District Court. He was arrested in Montgomery County last June and found to have related cases in Houston.

HPD Juvenile Division Sergeant B. Null and Officer H.A. Whillock of the Sex Crimes Unit reported:

HPD computer forensic unit analyzed a significant amount of digital evidence seized from suspect Vargas’ home in Houston and recovered thousands of images and video of child pornography. He is currently in jail and awaiting trial in Montgomery County on charges filed there.
