Traffic Incident at 4800 North Wayside

January 12, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian at 4800 North Wayside about 7:20 p.m. on Thursday (Jan.11).

The victim is identified as John S. Melvyn, 52, of Galveston, Texas.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officers J. Tippy and R. Breiding reported:

According to witnesses, a 2006 black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling southbound on North Wayside at a high rate of speed struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross the roadway.

The driver of the pickup may face charges upon completion of the investigation and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney's office.
