Traffic Incident at 2400 South Loop West

January 20, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 2400 block of the South Loop West (610 Loop) about 4 a.m. today (Jan. 20).

The name of the deceased female victim is being withheld pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant P. Casares and Officer S. Johnson reported:

The victim and a male were driving in a white Chevrolet SUV, traveling west on the South Loop. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control and caused the vehicle to roll over several times off the freeway and on to the service road. The male and female were ejected. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the female dead at the scene and transported the male to Memorial Hermann Hospital in an unknown condition.

The investigation is continuing. It is unknown who was driving the vehicle and whether alcohol was a factor in the accident.
