Incident at 2429 Gessner

January 26, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 2429 Gessner on January 25, 2007 at 11:10 p.m.

The victim is identified as John Marx, 27. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Belmarez and Officer E. Carstens reported:

Mr. Marx was outside his place of employment possibly taking a smoke break when witnesses heard multiple gunshots in the area. Employees called out for Marx but he did not respond. The side doors of the restaurant were locked and Marx was blocking the backdoor so employees asked a customer at the drive-thru window to look behind the building. The witness observed Marx on the ground at the back door.
