Traffic Incident at 4900 North Freeway

January 29, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 4900 block of the North Freeway (IH 45 North) about 12:45 a.m. today (January 29).

The male victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant J.A. Calley and Officer R. Davidson reported:

A blue Chevrolet Tahoe was northbound in the 4900 block of the North Freeway mainlanes when the driver struck the victim, who was attempting to cross the freeway on foot. It appears the victim may be homeless.

The investigation is continuing.
