Traffic Incident at 6500 North Freeway

January 31, 2007 -- Houston Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6500 block of the North Freeway (IH-45 North) about 9 p.m. on Tuesday (January 30).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant W.R. Cumbess and Officers Y. Woods, M. Lowder and R. Kessler reported:

A witness observed a pedestrian cross the northbound mainlanes of the North Freeway and continue across the southbound lanes. A blue Mitsubishi Endeavor was southbound on the mainlanes and struck the victim. No charges are pending against the driver of the Mitsubishi.

The investigation is continuing.
