Traffic Incident at 14300 Hempstead Highway July 3, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14300 Hempstead Highway about 6:30 a.m. today (July 3). The victim’s identity is being withheld pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer A. Taylor reported: A Republic Waste garbage truck was traveling west on Hempstead Highway when it was struck head-on by a maroon Ford pickup traveling east on Hempstead Highway. The driver of the Ford pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the garbage truck was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital with broken legs.
