Traffic Incident at 5500 East Freeway July 15, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5500 East Freeway (Interstate 10 East) about 3:50 p.m. on Sunday (July 15). The victim, Thomas Lee Garrison, 68, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant Steve Perez and Officer J. Vega reported: According to witnesses, Mr. Garrison was driving an 18-wheeler tractor trailer east in the 5500 block of the East Freeway (Interstate 10 East) when he slumped over the steering wheel and struck the outside lane guard railing. Further investigation determined Garrison suffered a cardiac arrest and lost control of the 18-wheeler. There were no other injuries.
