Traffic Incident at 7800 South Loop East

March 12, 2007 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7800 block of the South Loop East (Loop 610) about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday (March 11).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant P. Casares and Officer S. Johnson reported:

The victim was driving a white Dodge pickup truck eastbound in the 7800 block of the South Loop East when he apparently lost control of the vehicle, and struck the concrete divider causing the vehicle to roll over, partially ejecting him. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt.

Both alcohol and speed may have been factors in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
