Update on Incident at 12600 Hillcroft

March 27, 2007 -- Houston police homicide investigators are asking for assistance in identifying the victim of a fatal shooting at 12600 Hillcroft about 5:20 a.m. on March 25, 2007. Investigators are also looking for an acquaintance of the victim who was with him prior to the shooting.

The identity of the male victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, is unknown at this time. It is believed he and his companion are of Guatemalan descent. A photo of the victim is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M.O. Scott and J. Parker and Officers C.L. Scales and R. Moreno reported:

A passing motorist called 911 after seeing a body in the road in the 12600 block of Hillcroft. HPD patrol officers responded and found the male victim deceased. Investigators responded to the scene and developed information that indicated the victim was involved in a disturbance with two Hispanic males in a white Ford Expedition or Explorer. It appears the victim was shot as the suspects attempted to force him into their vehicle. His acquaintance fled on foot prior to the shooting and went to an area bar (Caribena on Hillcroft) to seek help.

Anyone with information in this case or on the identity of the victim and/or witness is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
