Incident at 11700 Westheimer

March 29, 2007 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 11700 Westheimer about 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday (Mar. 28).

The suspect, identified as Garrett William Mallot (w/m, DOB 8/16/82), has been charged with murder in the 338th State District Court.

The victim is identified as Otis James Francis, 31, of 11700 Bissonnet #1214. He suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers D. Vasquez and J. Selvera reported:

Mallot and Mr. Francis were involved in an altercation while riding on a Metro bus. As the altercation escalated, Mallot pulled out a handgun and shot Francis. Mallot was arrested at the scene without incident.
