Traffic Incident at West Sam Houston Parkway North at Kempwood

October 19, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of the West Sam Houston Parkway North service road and Kempwood about 4:25 p.m. on Thursday (October 18).

The victim, identified as James W. Connally Jr., 72, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and was pronounced dead.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant L. H. Lefler and Officer R. Kessler reported:

Witnesses reported seeing a black Ford Ranger truck, traveling east in the 10700 block of Kempwood, disregard a red light at the intersection of the West Sam Houston Parkway North service road. The Ford Ranger struck a silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling north on the West Sam Houston Parkway North service road. Mr. Connally, passenger in the Ford, was ejected. The drivers of the Ford and the Malibu were both transported to Memorial City Hospital for their injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
