Incident at 21103 Covington Bridge Drive
October 25, 2007 - A suspect who refused to surrender to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable deputies and members of the Houston Police Department SWAT Team was found fatally shot inside his residence at 21103 Covington Bridge Drive about 1:35 a.m. today (Oct. 25).
The suspect, identified as James Moss Hahn (w/m, DOB: 10-16-68), was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.D. Shirley and Officers B.D. Evans and R. Trevino reported:
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable deputies attempted to serve a Writ of Eviction on the suspect at his north Harris County home. As the constable deputies attempted to do so, they noticed the front and rear doors, as well as the windows of the home, had been barricaded from the inside. The deputies tried to remove a covering off a back window and saw the suspect armed with a gun inside. Constable deputies retreated and notified the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) about the incident. HCSO deputies arrived and asked for assistance from the HPD Swat Team about 3 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 24). SWAT officers and members of the Hostage Negotiation Team arrived and attempted to communicate with the suspect throughout the day, without success. SWAT officers made entry into the residence about 10 hours later (about 1:35 a.m.) and found the suspect dead inside his home.
As is customary in in-custody deaths, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
