Traffic Incident at 5600 Southwest Freeway

September 30, 2007 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5600 Southwest Freeway about 12:10 a.m. today (September 30).

The deceased victim, Kevin du (a/m, DOB: 6-10-89), was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer D. Hall reported:

A witness stated that she observed a gray Toyota Camry traveling southbound in the 5600 block of the Southwest Freeway. The Camry attempted to make a last minute exit at Fountainview and stuck the barreled divider. According to the witness, the Camry rolled over and landed on the outer concrete divider. The Camry’s two driver’s side wheels were on the exit ramp and the other two were over the service road. The initial impact caused Mr. Du to strike and exit the front windshield.

The driver and the front passenger were also transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. They sustained minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges may be filed.
