Arrest in Fatal Traffic Accident at 3300 Airline

April 7, 2008 - Charges are pending against one of two motorists involved in a fatal traffic accident in the 3300 block of Airline about 2:10 a.m. today.

The name of the deceased female victim, 38, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. She was driving one of two vehicles involved in the accident. The other driver, Miguel Gomez (H/m, DOB: 1-26-78), was arrested when he tried to flee before officers arrived. Charges of failure to stop and render aid are pending against him.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant J.A. Calley and Officer D. Hall reported:

The victim was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on East 33rd when she ran the stop sign at the intersection of Airline. Her vehicle struck a Dodge Neon driven by Gomez, as he was traveling north on Airline. The victim was ejected from her truck and died at the scene. Though he was not at fault in the accident, Gomez attempted to leave the scene, but was arrested by responding officers.
