Fatal Shooting at 798 Maxey

April 15, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 798 Maxey about 8:50 p.m. on Monday (April 14).

The first victim, 20 to 25 years of age, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. A second victim, Jesus Garcia, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.M. Cegielski and Officer B.W. Nabors reported:

The victims cashed their payroll checks in the PL$ Check Cashers business at 798 Maxey and were getting into their vehicle in the rear parking lot of the business when an unknown suspect approached them. The suspect attempted to rob the victims at gunpoint and shot both men.

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 160 to 170 pounds. The suspect’s vehicle is described only as an unknown make or model blue four-door car.
