Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 6810 Gulf Freeway

April 21, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 6810 Gulf Freeway about 12:10 a.m. on Thursday (April 17).

The suspect, Arturo Ortiz (H/m, DOB: 11-09-80), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. His is accused in the killing of Mario Gudino, 21, of Houston. Mr. Gudino suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.J. Anthony and Senior Police Officer R.W. Chappell reported:

Gudino met Ortiz at the parking lot of the Home Depot at 6810 Gulf Freeway when he was stabbed. Gudino was not an employee of Home Depot.

Further investigation identified Ortiz as the suspect in this case and on Thursday (April 17) he was arrested.
