Man Dies Following Shooting Last Month at 6700 Mullins

April 28, 2008 - A man shot and wounded in the 6700 block of Mullins about 10 p.m. on March 8 has died from his injuries.

The victim, Manuel Cristales, 46, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he had remained since the shooting. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Saturday (April 26).

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzales and Officer J. Sosa reported:

Mr. Cristales was standing at the corner of Mullins and Dashwood when witnesses heard three to four gunshots and saw a suspect standing next to Cristales. After the shots were fired, the suspect fled in a green, four-door, older model (1996-98) Honda Accord. The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, 17 to 25 years old.

The motive in the incident is unknown at this time.
