Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident at Bellaire Boulevard And Cook

August 18, 2008 - A suspect has been arrested and charged in a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at Bellaire Boulevard and Cook about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (August 17).

The suspect, Misael A. Mazariego (H/m, DOB: 4-21-87), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid in the 339th State District Court.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer J. Lin reported:

Suspect Mazariego was driving a silver Honda Accord southbound on Cook when he ran a red light at Bellaire Boulevard and struck a green Dodge pickup that was eastbound on Bellaire Blvd. A passenger in the Dodge died while four other occupants were transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Mazariego and two other suspects in his vehicle fled the scene on foot. Responding officers were advised by witnesses the suspects ran to a nearby apartment complex, where they were arrested.

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
