Double Shooting at 1400 St. Emanuel

December 01 , 2008 - Houston police are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the wounding of an off-duty Harris County Precinct 6 Deputy Constable and another male at 1400 St. Emanuel about 2 a.m. on Friday (Nov. 29).

Harris County Precinct 6 Lieutenant Mark Timmers suffered a gunshot wound to the right shoulder and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was treated and released. A second male, identified as Calvin Walls, suffered a gunshot wound to the right shoulder and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. J. LeBlanc and J. C. Padilla and Senior Police Officer A. Mares reported:

A fight started between two groups of males attending a party inside the Meridian Nightclub at 1503 Chatres. The fight then moved outside to a parking lot across the street from the nightclub. The suspect then approached Mr. Walls and shot him. Lt. Timmers, working an extra job at the nightclub, responded to the area of the parking lot where shots were fired and found Walls lying on his back. As Lt. Timmers attempted to help Walls, he was surprised by the suspect, who was ducked down next to a car in the parking lot. The suspect then stood up, shot Lt. Timmers, then fled on foot.
