Fatal Accident at 3300 North Sam Houston Parkway East

February 29, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3300 block of the North Sam Houston Parkway East about 12:50 p.m. on Thursday (February 28).

The identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeants G.T. Hall and Officer R. Tallent reported:

A red Chevrolet Monte Carlo was running out of gas and slowly moving east towards the right shoulder of the Sam Houston Parkway when a white Ford Ranger apparently struck it from behind. The Ranger was then struck from behind by a third vehicle, a maroon Ford pickup truck, and rolled onto its side. The driver of the Ranger died at the scene and the two persons inside the Monte Carlo were transported to the Humble Northeast Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
