Traffic Incident at 12800 Beechnut Street January 20, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 12800 block of Beechnut Street about 12:10 a.m. today (January 20). The male victim, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office. HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer J. Garcia reported: Witnesses saw a gray Dodge Stratus, occupied by a driver and two passengers, traveling east on Beechnut at a high rate of speed and swerving from lane to lane when the driver lost control and drove onto the grassy area to the right of the road. The Stratus then knocked down a steel wire fence, slid into a tree and split in half. The driver, 18, and front passenger, 17, were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in unknown condition. The rear passenger died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The investigation is continuing.
