Fatal Auto Pedestrian Accident on Highway 59 at 610 Loop

July 14, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on Highway 59 (Southwest Freeway) southbound underneath the 610 Loop about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (July 13).

The female victim, Valshecka Flowers, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer R. Farias reported:

Ms. Flowers was attempting to cross the Southwest Freeway, underneath the 610 Loop, on foot when she was struck by a green Chevrolet Lumina, driven by an off-duty HPD officer. Flowers was then struck by several more vehicles that kept going with the exception of a white Ford E350 truck.

The off-duty officer was not injured in the incident and the investigation is continuing.
