Child Found Dead at 8001 West Tidwell

July 14, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the death of a child found at 8001 West Tidwell about 4 p.m. on Sunday (July 13).

The victim, a two-year-old boy, was transported to Spring Branch Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer J. Rodriguez reported:

At about 2 p.m., the baby’s uncle drove him and other juvenile family members to his (the uncle’s) residence at 8001 West Tidwell from the baby’s residence. In addition, the baby’s aunt also transported a group of juvenile family members to the residence on West Tidwell. When the uncle arrived on West Tidwell, he instructed the kids to exit the vehicle on the passenger’s side and hold hands while they walked to his apartment. For an unknown reason, the baby did not exit the vehicle, possibly because he had fallen asleep. When the aunt and other family members arrived, they each thought the baby boy was with the other. They found the baby unconscious inside the uncle’s vehicle at about 4 p.m. and called HFD.

The case is under investigation with charges pending autopsy results and a review of the case by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
