Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 10096 South Gessner

July 16, 2008 - Houston police have arrested a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 10096 South Gessner about 7 p.m. on May 13.

The suspect, Terrence S. Pierre (b/m, DOB: 12-10-79), AKA “Boonie,” is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Joba S. Hawkins, 31, of Houston. Mr. Hawkins suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer S. Anderson and Officer T.T. Pool reported:

Mr. Hawkins was walking in the 10000 block of South Gessner about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday when he began arguing with an unknown person who called him on his cell phone. As Hawkins entered the parking lot of a convenience store at 10096 South Gessner, a four-door gray vehicle, with unknown license plates arrived and stopped abruptly. Pierre got out of the vehicle and pointed a pistol at Hawkins. Both men exchanged words briefly before Pierre shot Hawkins. Hawkins ran a short distance, with Pierre chasing him, and then fell to the ground. Pierre shot Hawkins again, ran to the waiting vehicle and then fled the scene. There were possibly two other unidentified persons waiting inside the vehicle during the shooting and when the vehicle sped off.

Further investigation identified Pierre as the suspect in this case and on Tuesday (July 15) he was taken into custody in Missouri City without incident.
