Suspects Arrested, Charged in Capital Murder at 10100 Westview

July 31, 2008 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in the 10100 block of Westview on April 27.

The first suspect, Ernesto Gonzalez, (H/m, DOB: 12/9/85), is charged with capital murder in the 180th State District Court. The second suspect is a juvenile male and will be referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on the same charge. They are accused in the killing of Horacio Luna, 35, of Houston, who suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. R. McGalin and Officer D.W. Arnold reported:

Mr. Luna was walking in the 10100 block of Westview and was approached by a dark-colored sports utility vehicle, when one of the suspects exited the vehicle from the passenger side, pointed a gun at Luna, and ordered him to the ground. The suspect then shot Luna once, and then fled the scene.

After a follow up investigation, homicide investigators identified Ernesto Gonzalez and the juvenile male as the suspects in this case. Gonzalez was arrested on July 24 in the 8200 block of Richmond.
