Man Dies Following Shooting at 1000 Rusk

June 16, 2008 - A man shot and critically wounded at 1000 Rusk about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, has died from his injuries.

The victim, identified as Joseph Lee Fransaw, 26, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper abdomen and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he underwent surgery. Doctors pronounced Mr. Fransaw dead on Friday, June 13.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.E. Elliott and Senior Police Officer J.C. Bonaby III reported:

Mr. Fransaw was standing outside the Vault Club at 1000 Rusk when a vehicle with unknown suspects inside approached his direction. Two suspects, described only as black males, fired in Fransaw's direction and then fled the scene.

The suspects' vehicle is a 2007 black, four-door Pontiac Grand Am with Texas license plates FYR-945.
