Auto Theft Suspect Shot at in Incident at 3700 Meyer

June 17, 2008 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which an off-duty Harris County Precinct 6 reserve deputy constable discharged his weapon at an auto theft suspect at 3700 Meyer about 12:55 a.m. today.

The reserve deputy constable, A. Soto, 37, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Bush and Officer J.R. Johnston reported:

Reserve Deputy Constable Soto saw his personal vehicle being stolen from the driveway of the residence, ran outside and identified himself as a police officer, and ordered the suspect to stop. After the suspect disregarded the deputy constable’s orders and continued to flee, Soto discharged his weapon several times at the vehicle in attempts to disable it. The unknown suspect managed to drive away in the stolen vehicle.
