Investigation Into Shot Fired at Officers at 1500 East 31st Street

June 25, 2008 - Houston police are investigating an incident in which an unknown individual fired a shot at two undercover HPD officers at 1500 East 31st Street about 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday (June 24).

Neither of the officers, T.J. Chapman and L.R. Carballo, was struck. Both officers are assigned to the Narcotics Division.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rubio and Officers J. Johnston and B. Evans reported:

Two narcotics officers were in a vehicle parked and facing east in the 1500 block of East 31st Street when a bullet struck the windshield of their vehicle. Both officers took cover and immediately concluded the bullet came from the direction of a residence nearby. Officers made contact with the owner of residence and questioned him in the incident. He was subsequently released without charges.
