Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 4001 Corder

June 30, 2008 - A suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4001 Corder about 10:50 p. m. on Wednesday (June 25) has been arrested.

The suspect, William Charles Baisy (b/m, DOB: 8-19-87), charged with murder in the 185th State District Court, was arrested on Saturday (June 28). He is accused in the killing of Carl Sonnier, 23, of Houston. Mr. Sonnier suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. He died on Thursday (June 26).

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer T. W. Miller and Officer M. Miller reported:

Mr. Sonnier left his apartment to go to the store when Baisy approached him. Baisy then shot Sonnier several times and fled the scene. The motive for the shooting appears to be robbery.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Baisy as the suspect in this case and a murder charged was filed.

Baisy was arrested at the Greyhound bus terminal at 2121 Main. He boarded a bus departing for Dallas.
