Infant Dies Following Incident at 6770 Westbranch

March 03, 2008 - Houston police are awaiting results of an autopsy on a baby found unresponsive at her home at 6770 Westbranch #4201 about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday (Mar. 1).

The victim, Empress Janieba Duncan, a two-month-old girl, was transported to West Houston Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.J. Anthony and Senior Police Officer R.W. Chappell reported:

Baby Empress went to sleep with her mother on Friday evening (Feb. 29). When the mother awoke around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, she found her baby unresponsive. The mother's roommate called 911 and paramedics transported the baby to the hospital where she died.

There were no apparent injuries or signs of trauma to the infant. The death is under investigation and a cause will be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner.
