Victim Dies Days After Assault at 8000 Sycamore

March 21, 2008 - A female victim in critical condition since being assaulted at 8000 Sycamore about 12:50 a.m. on Sunday (March 16), has died.

Irma Gutierrez, 52, suffered head injuries and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on Thursday (March 20). Her cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Anthony and Officer R. Chappell reported:

Ms. Gutierrez’ husband got into an argument with several males outside of Emeliano’s Club at 8000 Sycamore and when she screamed for help, she was run over by a black Chevrolet Suburban driven by a male suspect. The suspect then backed up and picked up the males who were fighting with Gutierrez’ husband and fled the scene.

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, 20 to 25 years of age, weighing 220 to 300 pounds, with a goatee and a bald head.
