Police Chief Hurtt Introduces New Foundation Chairman

May 07, 2008 - Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt and other high-ranking HPD officials introduced Mr. Tilman Fertitta as Chairman of the Houston Police Foundation at a news conference today (Wednesday, May 7) at the Downtown Aquarium at 410 Bagby.

Chief Hurtt also announced plans for the First Moonlight Classic Bike Ride on Friday, June 20, 2008.

Funding from the Houston Police Foundation in the last year allowed the purchase of the following equipment:

  • “Shooting Simulator”
  • SWAT Tactical Equipment
  • Portable Weight Scales
  • Crime Scopes
  • Digital Cameras
  • Total Station Laser System
  • Computer Software
  • Polygraph Instrumentation Equipment
  • Mounted Horse Patrol Trailer
  • Cameras and Recorders
  • Vetronix Crash Data Retreval

Attendees had the opportunity to try out the "Shooting Simulator,” have pictures taken in SWAT gear and run radar with HPD Traffic Enforcement Unit officers.

The Houston Police Foundation is a non-profit corporation formed by local business leaders to support projects of the Houston Police Department.
