Swat/Hnt Respond to Barricaded Female at 6209 Bacher

May 27, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested after she shot at Houston police officers at 6209 Bacher about 2:20 p.m. on Saturday (May 24).

The suspect, Dora Elizabeth Sublett (b/f, DOB: 11-11-78), is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant in the 248th State District Court.

Officer S. Halama, assigned to the Tactical Operations Division, was sworn in as an officer in June of 1990. He was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Dillingham and O. Chandler reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at 6209 Bacher and observed a woman with a gun barricade herself in the residence. Officers from HPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) responded to the location. A perimeter was set up in the immediate area and after a brief standoff, Sublett fired a weapon at officers from inside the residence. Officer Halama eventually returned fire and struck Sublett after she attempted to fire a second shot at officers.

Sublett was eventually taken into custody by members of SWAT and found to have a non-life threatening injury to the upper part of her right arm. Sublett was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital for treatment of her injury. There were no other injuries reported.

As is customary in all officer involved shootings occurring within the Houston city limits, this incident will be investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions as well as the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
