Dead Man Incident at 5100 Southwest Freeway

November 10, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a vehicle in the 5100 block of the Southwest Freeway about 9:50 p.m. on Saturday (Nov.8).

The suspect was struck by a vehicle and transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Bush and Officer C. Sturdivant reported:

HPD officers responded to a home invasion call at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of McCue. As officers were speaking with the victim, a witness told the officers the suspect was burglarizing another apartment. Officers located the suspect inside the apartment and attempted to take him into custody but the suspect ignored the officers’ commands and was able to jump out of a window and flee on foot. The suspect then jumped a fence surrounding the property and attempted to run across the Southwest Freeway (US Hwy 59) southbound lanes, when a vehicle struck him.
