Charges Filed in Fatal Traffic Accident at 10800 Katy Freeway

October 6, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a motorist involved in a fatal traffic accident in the 10800 block of the Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 West) about 1:22 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 4).

The suspect, Honorato Marcos Rios (H/m, DOB: 9-27-85), is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 230th State District Court.

The victims, Angela Roblez, 17 months of age, and Amber Roblez, 8 months of age, were pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer D. Hall reported:

According to witnesses, Rios was driving a blue Cadillac GTS westbound in the 10800 block of the Katy Freeway, at a high rate of speed. A gray Ford Taurus with four occupants, also westbound, slowed down due to construction when the Cadillac struck the rear of the Taurus. Angela and Amber, who were backseat passengers in the Taurus, died on impact. The driver of the Taurus, Olga Flores, 49, and the front passenger, Gloria Roblez, 27, were both transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown condition. Rios was arrested at the scene.
