Juvenile Death Investigation at 13800 Northwest Freeway

October 28, 2008 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a male juvenile male in the 13800 block of the Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) about 7:15 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 27).

The victim, 13, was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Shirley and Officer J. Robles reported:

The victim and his friend were riding in the back seat of a vehicle being driven by the friend’s mother when the victim wrapped a seat belt around his own neck and pretended to be strangled. The victim then became tangled in the seat belt and began choking. After being freed by the friend’s mother, the victim was transported to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
