Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Accident at 6200 Windswept

September 08, 2008 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit and run accident in the 6200 block of Windswept about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday (September 7).

The male victim, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer R. Kessler reported:

The driver of a white Toyota pickup was traveling eastbound on Windswept when the vehicle went off the roadway, struck a fire hydrant, a street sign and then the victim. The driver of the Toyota then fled the scene on foot.

It is unknown at this time if the victim was on the sidewalk or in the street.
