Investigation into Baby's Death at 6200 Gulfton

September 29, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the death of a two-month-old boy found unresponsive in his home at 6200 Gulfton about 9:50 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 28).

The victim, Isaiah Valdes, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He did not have any visible injuries. An autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office will determine his cause of death.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers A.J. Palos and C.T. Hufstedler reported:

The child's father prepared a bottle for his son's morning feeding and gave it to Isaiah as the baby was in his crib. The father laid in his bed, next to the crib, and fell back to sleep for a brief time. When he awoke, the father checked on the baby and found him face down and unresponsive in his crib. The father called 9-1-1 and paramedics transported Isaiah to the hospital where he died a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing pending results of the autopsy.
