Update on 2006 Fatal Shooting at 6415 Sherman

April 13, 2009 - The fatal shooting of an armed robbery suspect at 6415 Sherman on September 24, 2006 has been referred to a Harris County grand jury. 

The male suspect, 29, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Mexican Consulate. 

The male shooter, who was 17 years of age at the time of the incident, has not been charged at this time. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. D. Howard, M. W. McStravick and J. J. Brooks and Senior Police Officer M. F. Waters reported: 

The suspect, armed with a machete, robbed a friend of the 17-year-old male.  As the suspect attacked the male with the machete, he was shot. 

On March 20, 2009, the robbery victim provided a statement to investigators which identified the 17-year-old male as the shooter, who later admitted his involvement in this incident.
